Biography
Ewa Waniek-Klimczak is a professor at the Univerity of Lodz and acts as the head of the Department of English Grammar and Phonetics (since 2007) and the Director of Studies in the Instutute of English (since 2008). She specialises in phonetics and phonology of English; her main research interests are in applied phonetics, sociolinguistics and second language acquisition. She has organized and co-organised conferences on accents of English and teaching English pronunciation – in the present form ACCENT conferences take place every December. Her editorial work includes collections of papers devoted to teaching pronunciation; she has been recently appointed an editor of Research in Language. She teaches a variety of courses in English phonetics, phonology, varieties of English, history of English, applied linguistics and research methodology.
